Tally Integration & TDL — Common Questions
1. What is Tally TDL and why would my business need it?
TDL (Tally Definition Language) is the extension language for Tally.ERP 9 and TallyPrime. It lets us add fields, reports, print formats and validations that Tally does not ship with — for example a custom invoice layout, a credit-limit check at the point of sale, or an item-wise profitability report. If your team is exporting to Excel every day to get a number, that is usually a TDL job.
2. Can I see Tally sales and outstanding data on my phone?
Yes. We build web dashboards that read from your Tally data and render on any phone or laptop browser — sales by day, party-wise outstanding, collection ageing, stock position and top items. Your team keeps working in Tally exactly as before; the dashboard is read-only and updates on a schedule you choose.
3. Do I have to move my Tally to the cloud for this to work?
No. We can work with Tally running on your existing office machine or server. Where remote access is needed we set up a secure sync or a hosted Tally instance, but that is a choice, not a requirement.
4. Can Tally be connected to my website, e-commerce store or CRM?
Yes. We integrate Tally with websites, e-commerce carts, CRMs and payment gateways using Tally's XML/ODBC interfaces, so orders, invoices and receipts flow both ways instead of being keyed in twice.
5. Will a TDL customisation break when I upgrade TallyPrime?
A well-written TDL is version-aware. We test our customisations against the target TallyPrime release and provide an updated build when you upgrade. We also hand over the source so you are never locked in.
6. Do you work with businesses outside Chennai?
We are based in Ambattur, Chennai and most on-site work happens across the Chennai metro, but TDL development, dashboards and integrations are delivered remotely for clients anywhere in India.
